We officially have adopted a park!

As of May 19th we have adopted Sandsprit Park in Stuart, FL. This means, we will focus a few of our clean-up events here and we will try our best to do self-motivated clean-ups at this park.

You may wonder, why this park?

Let's take a look at this aerial view from google maps:

Do you see how much of that park is bordered by water? about 75%! This park is heavily visited by boaters, tourists and locals. Unfortunately many of these visitors do not seem to understand where the trash cans are OR they simply do not understand (or care) about the biodegradable abilities of things such as cigarette butts and the like.

The number one item we pick up at this park during our clean-ups are cigarettes. Depending on environmental conditions, it can take 1-10 years for a cigarette to decompose! That is a lot of time for that cigarette to be hanging around and possibly get into the mouth of a marine bird or turtle or fish. This is not what we want happening.

Be a part of the solution. Volunteer with us, your local chapter, and see how you can make a difference at this park and other waterfront parks and beaches in our Treasure Coast area.

Make sure to stay tuned to our website and social media for updates on our clean-up event dates.
